What is this?

Film is transferred the exact same way in all telecine transfers by production houses. Film is passed through a video recording system and eventually to a final media for you. The difference is in the video recording system. It only makes sense, that the better your recording method is, the better results you produce from the transfer.

We've traditionally used 3CCD Lenses for our transfers which yielded excellent results for standard definition video footage.

The only way we saw at increasing this quality was to take the step to the latest in video recording and capture, and that was to modify our telecine systems to incorporate High Definition Video. Instead of capturing your film at Standard Definition 480i which is 240 line fields, we are now capturing at 1080i which is more than double the line resolution at 540 line fields. We then use this high quality source for editing, and preparing your footage for either Standard Definition DVD or AVI Files. Your final video product is standard definition, as we down-sample the high definition footage which keeps the vibrant image while reducing the line resolution to be compatible with standard definition televisions and video.

Q. Will this play on my standard equipment?
A. Yes. We are using High Definition to capture your film, but providing Standard Definition to you. It's a method of capturing the highest possible source, and then using that exception video quality to produce outstanding standard definition video. You will not be able to tell the difference in playability. The video takes up the whole screen, and we use our standard black frame video methods to show as much as possible of the original frame as can be.  see here

Q. Do you provide High Definition DVDs?
A. We currently do NOT offer Blu-Ray authoring until the costs to provide Blu-Ray-Recordables comes down to be a reasonable delivery method.

Q. Do you provide High Definition Film Transfers to Hard Drive?
A. Yes. Keep in mind, that the High Definition Standard is Wide Screen, and film is not. Your final film footage is centered in the frame, with black bars on the sides to support the wide screen attribute.
